In May of last year, Human Rights Watch released a report which accused the Sudanese government of ethnic cleansing in Darfur. The report documented how "Sudanese government forces have overseen and directly participated in massacres, summary executions of civilians, burnings of towns and villages, and the forcible depopulation of wide swaths of land long-inhabited by the Fur, Masalit, and Zaghawa ethnic groups [of the Darfur region]." ...

The janjaweed have been particularly brutal and vicious in their attacks. These fighters have raped, pillaged, and terrorized the civilian population of Darfur, and numerous eye witnesses document coordination between the government and janjaweed forces. For instance, the Sudanese air force will bomb a village, and then a joint government- janjaweed force will attack that same village. ...

What's more, the Human Rights Watch report documented how the janjaweed destroyed mosques, killed imams, and desecrated Qur'ans of the people of Darfur. The report, in fact, listed 39 mosques in Darfur that have been destroyed by the janjaweed. More infuriating, the people of Darfur are Muslim and the janjaweed are are also Muslim. As I said previously, this report was issued last May. Where was the outrage in the Muslim world? Where were the rallies by the "Muslim faithful," their eyes flashing with rage at the desecration of the Qur'an? Where were the condemnations by the governments of various Muslim countries?

Må vi så se retfærdig vrede blandt muslimer over det her, tak?
